If you're using...
Workshare desktop app
Windows Server 2008 and above

You'll need...
To be an IT administrator

You can use your existing deployment tools. The preferences that can be deployed for the desktop app are:
  1. Sync root location for the Workshare sync folder.
  2. Proxy settings.
  3. Bandwidth control.
These preferences are found in the Workshare ADMX template file (WorkshareDesktop.admx), which references the Workshare ADML language file (WorkshareDesktop.adml). You can specify the values of your preferences using the Group Policy Editor and then deploy them using a script. Once deployed, the preferences appear in the registry.

Follow these steps:
  1. Install the desktop app. The ADMX and ADML files are included with the install.
  2. From the desktop app's install folder, locate the PolicyDefinitions folder. This folder contains the WorkshareDesktop.admx file and the EN-US folder:
For a 32-bit environment, go to: C:\Program Files\Workshare\Workshare Desktop\PolicyDefinitions
For a 64-bit environment, go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Workshare\Workshare Desktop\PolicyDefinitions
  1. Copy the WorkshareDesktop.admx file and the EN-US folder (The EN-US folder contains the WorkshareDesktop.adml file).
  2. Locate the PolicyDefinitions folder on your server:
    1. If you’ve installed the operating system to the default drive: C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions
    2. If you’ve installed the operating system on to another drive: %systemroot%\PolicyDefinitions
  3. Paste the WorkshareDesktop.admx file and the EN-US folder.
  4. Open the Group Policy Editor:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Click Administrative Tools.
    3. Click Group Policy Management.
  5. In the Group Policy Editor, browse to the Workshare template. By default, user values are used first followed by machine values:
    1. To modify the Computer Configuration:
      1. For a 32-bit machine: Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Workshare\Desktop\32 bit OS
      2. For a 64-bit machine: Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Workshare\Desktop\64 bit OS
    2. To modify the User Configuration: User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Workshare\Desktop
